The Mayflower Society was originally established in the aftermath of the 1876 centennial celebration in the United States, which encouraged many Americans to consider celebrating their ancestors, such as those who arrived to the continent on the Mayflower. Since 1894, the society has served more than 100,000 members with ancestral ties to the Mayflower. The organization strives to honor the memory of the 1620 pilgrims through research and presentation of family history at a genealogy research center housed at the society’s headquarters in Plymouth.

To join The Mayflower Society, prospective members must prove their descent from a direct lineal ancestor and be at least 18 years of age (though some chapters offer junior memberships).
