Film festivals are great opportunities for individual filmmakers to make their works more visible and develop their careers. Independent filmmakers often struggle because they do not have as many resources and access to the media compared to established film companies.
Because film festivals gather a large audience, including some of the leading professionals in the film industry, independent filmmakers are more likely to clinch good distribution deals as well as exposure to some of the industry’s finest.
While taking your work to the cinema helps you to reach a larger audience, and while theaters will help you to network with potential financiers, submitting your film to be showcased at a festival increases your chances of meeting up with some of the best distributors in the industry.
